The challenge
The clinic kept a card for every pet, and vaccination due dates depended on staff remembering to call owners. Records were hard to find when a pet came back after months, and billing for treatments, medicines and boarding was done by hand.
Our approach
Veterinary work is different from human healthcare: one owner can have several pets, and each pet has its own species, breed, weight history and vaccine schedule. We built the data model around the pet, linked to its owner, from the start.
The solution
Every pet now has a digital profile with visits, treatments, prescriptions, weight and vaccinations. The system calculates the next due date for each vaccine and sends reminders to the owner by SMS or WhatsApp.
Appointments, grooming and boarding are booked from one calendar, and bills are created from the treatments recorded during the visit.
How we built it
The clinic uses a responsive web app, so vets can update records from a tablet in the consulting room. The backend runs on FastAPI with PostgreSQL.
This work shaped our own veterinary product, DigiVets, which brings the same approach to other clinics.
